The Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA) Governing Board and Management Team have continued their working visit to the Daura Zone as part of efforts to assess officers’ welfare, working conditions and inter-agency cooperation.

The delegation visited Mai’adua Local Government Area, where the Chairman of the Governing Board, retired AIG Danlami Yar’adua mni, briefed officers on the purpose of the visit.

He said the exercise was to assess their work environment, identify challenges and improve service delivery.

He urged officers to carry out their duties with professionalism, patience and respect for the public, describing them as servants of the people, not masters.

The board chairman also stressed the need for teamwork with other security agencies, adherence to rules and zero tolerance for corruption.

The Chairman disclosed that the Authority is working to improve officers’ welfare, including promotions, confirmation of appointments, provision of uniforms and office upgrades.

In his response, the Mai’adua Unit Commander, Nuraddeen Garba Rimi, raised concerns over inadequate cooperation from some Local Government stakeholders and requested the construction of a gate at the unit office located within the market.

He, however, commended the support from the Police and DSS in the area.

The Board and Management Team also discussed a salary-related issue involving double payment to an officer and the subsequent withholding of salary for three months, offering guidance on how to resolve the matter and prevent future occurrences.

The delegation later visited the Daura Local Government Secretariat, where the Board Chairman briefed the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Rabe, who represented the Council Chairman, Alhaji Bala Musa Daura.

He appealed for continued support, explaining that KASSAROTA was established to protect lives and property on the roads, not just for revenue generation, citing similar authorities in other states.

Some Board Members, including retired CP Ladodo, retired CP Sulaiman Ketare, Alhaji Gambo Mashi and the State Commandant, retired Comptroller of Immigration Dahiru Mani Bagiwa, also spoke during the visit.

Similarly, the Director General of KASSAROTA, retired Major Garba Yahaya Rimi (Tafidan Kauran Katsina), appealed for the inclusion of KASSAROTA officers in local security meetings to strengthen coordination.

Responding the vice chairman, Alhaji Lawal Rabe thanked the delegation and assured them of the Local Government’s support, while calling for better understanding between residents and KASSAROTA officers.

He assured the Local Government's support and cooperation to the officers of the authority when ever the need arises.

He stated that, henceforth, the Local Government Commandant of the Authority would be co-opted into the Local Council’s security meetings.

The delegation also visited the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Daura Area Command, where the Board Chairman briefed the Area Commander, Bukar Abdullahi, and sought continued cooperation.

The NSCDC commander assured the team of a cordial working relationship and sustained support.
